THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Anupama Chandran and Ajith Kumar, the complainants in the case of adoption of the child without the mother's knowledge, lodged a complaint with the Peroorkada police against Minister Saji Cherian for insulting the two in a public speech.

In her complaint to the police she said that what the minister did was character assassination. It is my right to choose with whom I should live. The remarks that Ajith has two-three children from his first wife and later fell in love with his friend's wife and married her were character assassination, the complaint said.

The minister said they are not against the opinion that the child should be brought back to its mother. It should not be said that her parents should go to jail for that. We should understand the emotions of her parents. The parents have a lot of dreams about their children. When the girl falls in love with a person already married and have children and gives birth to a child from that person, what the parents will do, he asked while speaking at a function organised in Karyavattom Campus.

When the issue stoked a controversy, the minister said that he did not character assassinate Anupama and Ajith, just asked girls to think practically.
