THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president K Sudhakaran has lashed out at actor Joju George who protested against the road blockade organised by Congress in protest against the rise of fuel prices. According to Sudhakaran, the violence perpetrated by Joju against the agitation organized by Ernakulam DCC and his indecent treatment of a woman activist violated the boundaries of decency.
"The District Congress Committee organised the protest against rising fuel prices after announcing it in advance. The strike was carried out in accordance with the procedures. The public was informed that there would be traffic restrictions. People have fully cooperated with the strike. Actor Joju George's protest against the strike was unfortunate. He behaved very provocatively. At one point, he even misbehaved with journalists. Police should take action against him for misbehaving with women activists. Otherwise, Congress will launch strong protests against him and the police," Sudhakaran said.
"Instead of reacting, the police remained inactive when the protests took place. That is what complicated the problems. The country has been witnessing unprecedented fuel price hikes for the past few months. Excessive taxes charged by the central and state governments are the main reason for the rise in fuel prices. This is something that needs to be questioned. As a political party, it is the duty and responsibility of the Congress to question this," he said.
