Kurup movie starring Dulquer Salman as fugitive Sukumara Kurup will hit theaters on November 12. Following the release of the poster and teaser of the film, there was a lot of criticism on social media regarding the promotion of the film. Critics say the teaser and the T-shirt and poster released for the film's promotion are trying to glorify the killer who burned someone to death. Jithin, son of Chacko, who was killed by Kurup, had also criticized the film and was preparing to take legal action against glorifying Kurup.
But now Jithin says that he has seen the movie and everyone should see it. Jithin Chacko said he realized that he had committed many atrocities in addition to killing his father. Jithin said the controversies should end and that there is a lot that the world needs to know from the film.
"When I first heard that a movie called Kurup starring Dulquar Salman was coming out, there was a lot of tension. Anger and sadness increased when I came to know that Dulquer Salman, who is much admired, is playing the role. When the teaser came out later it was confirmed that this is a movie that justifies a killer. Makers of Kurup called while I was going to charge a case against the film. They said that this is not a movie that will justify Kurup. They promised to show us the movie to convince us of that. So we went to Ernakulam and saw the movie".
"After I saw that movie, I realized there is more to it than what I knew. The world needs to know about all this. The film does not make Sukumara Kurup a hero or distort the story. The film is completely realistic".
"After watching the movie, all the anger I had towards them went away. Unnecessary controversy could have been avoided if they had conveyed what they mean by this film in the first place. They accepted our demand".
"I'm really happy after watching the movie. My only demand was that my father's killer should not become a hero in front of the society. When I saw the movie, I realized that there is nothing of that sort", Jithin said.
Written by Jithin K Jose, the film is scripted by Daniel Sayooj Nair and the dialogues are by KS Aravind. The heroine of the movie is Shobhita Dhulipala who made her Malayalam debut with the movie Moothon. The film also stars Indrajith Sukumaran, Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Vijayaraghavan, P Balachandran, Surabhi Lakshmi and Shivajith Padmanabhan.
