IDUKKI: The water level in the Periyar Tiger Reserve, the catchment area of the Mullaperiyar Dam, rose due to heavy rains. With this, eight shutters of the spillway have been raised and water has been released. A team of Tamil Nadu ministers will visit the Mullaperiyar Dam today as the water level in the dam has risen.

Water Resources Minister Durai Murugan, Finance Minister Thyagarajan, Co-operation Minister I Periya Swamy and Revenue Minister Murthy will be visiting the dam. MLAs from Theni district and top officials will accompany the ministers.
