KOCHI: The vigilance found that former Idukki SP Venugopal has illegal assets of Rs 18 lakh. The vigilance intervened while he was facing probe in the custodial death case of Rajkumar in Nedumkandam. The team had searched Venugopal's house in Kochi and had seized some documents. Vigilance then froze the bank accounts of the family members.

The financial transactions from 2006 to 2016 are being examined. The Ernakulam unit of the vigilance special cell is in charge of the investigation. It is heard that Venugopal will be questioned in detail by the vigilance.
