THAZHAVA: The death of an elderly woman, who was living with her daughter-in-law, has turned out to be a murder. Police have discovered that the elderly woman was set ablaze by her daughter-in-law who had served jail term in an Abkari case.
Kulasekharapuram native Nalinakshi (86) was found dead with burn injuries on October 29 at around 2 am at her home. Police have arrested her daughter-in-law Radhamani (60) in connection with the incident.
Though Nalinakshi was rushed to a private hospital in Kollam, her life could not be saved. Police had initially concluded that it was a suicide. However, a detailed investigation was launched after the postmortem report claimed that Nalinakshi had sustained a head injury. A number of locals too raised suspicion regarding the death of Nalinakshi. After a week-long investigation, police found that it was a murder.
