Police say the children may have run away because they were addicted to the game. All four were a squad in 'Free Fire' game. They left home to participate in a tournament. The police have decided to give counseling to these ninth-class students.

After entering Tamil Nadu through the Govindapuram check post, one who had a phone switched it off as soon as he crossed the border. The police had received CCTV footage of them going through the Palakkad bus stand. They went missing shortly after the school reopened after the Covid period.
