NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court which was scheduled to consider the Mullaperiyar case today has been postponed. Kerala demanded more time to respond to the affidavit of Tamil Nadu. The plea was postponed following the request of Kerala.
The plea will be considered again on November 22. Until then, the water level in the Mullaperiyar Dam will remain at 139.05 feet. Meantime, Tamil Nadu wants the water level in the Mullaperiyar to be raised to 142 feet. Kerala is firm in their stand of a new dam in Mullaperiyar.
Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine had earlier in the day said Kerala has informed the Supreme Court their stand in the Mullaperiyar case. They had also asked Tamil Nadu to carry more water. Tamil Nadu submitted their affidavit at 10 pm last night. Tamil Nadu's reply is related to the strengthening of the baby dam.
