THODUPUZHA: A final-year mechanical engineering student was killed after he lost control of his bike and rammed onto a wall. The deceased has been identified as S Unnikuttan (20), son of Puthuppally native Shankaran Pillai and Rajeshwari. Unnikuttan was a student of Al-Azhar Polytechnic College.

The accident took place near the college at 12.50 pm yesterday. Unnikuttan and his classmate Aromal were returning to their room to have lunch. According to sources, Unnikuttan lost control of the bike after a car unexpectedly came to the main road from the side road. Unnikrishnan, who suffered a serious head injury was rushed to the Thodupuzha District Hospital. However, he could not be saved.
