KOLLAM: Two persons were killed in rain-related incidents at Kottarakkara and Puthoor. The deceased have been identified as Cherupoikanative Baby (56) and Vellanad native C Sunilraj (35).
Baby went fishing in the river with her boat and net at 7 pm on Monday night. However, he did not return even after dawn. Following this, his family went searching for him. They found Baby's boat and fishing net about 300 metres from the shore. The family then lodged a complaint with the Puthoor police. The body was later found by the fire force and a scuba team. The body has been shifted to the mortuary of the Taluk Hospital for postmortem.
Sunilraj's body was found in the Surabhi Nagar area behind St. Gregorios College, Kottarakkara. Locals said that Sunilraj was seen roaming in the area and harassing people at their homes. On Tuesday morning, he was swept away by flash floods while he ventured into a stream. The locals carried out rescue operations but were unsuccessful. The body was found in a nearby place after several hours.
