THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of thundershowers in the state from Monday to Thursday (November 25). Yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam districts on Monday and in the districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Though yellow alert is issued in hilly areas, due to isolated heavy rains, the public is advised to maintain vigil similar to orange alert. Caution should be exercised in areas where there has been good rainfall in the last few days.
The state is expected to receive 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rainfall at various places. The low-pressure area formed in the Arabian Sea is now in the middle eastern region. There is also a cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal near the Andaman Sea. But the current indications are that these may not be such a problem for Kerala. Due to their presence, there was heavy rainfall and floods in the Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu coasts. Andhra Pradesh is still in a flood-like situation.
