ARYANAD: In a tragic incident, a housewife was killed after a scooter collided with a tipper lorry. The deceased has been identified as Jalaja Kumari (49), wife of Panakkode native Rajendran. The accident took place at around 8.45 am near Kuriyathi in Thiruvananthapuram.

Jalaja and her husband were on their way for work under the employment guarantee scheme when an overspeeding tipper came from the other direction and hit their scooter. Jalaja, who fell on the road, was run over by the tipper lorry. She died on the spot. Rajendran fell on the other side of the road and sustained minor injuries. The body was taken to the Medical College Hospital Mortuary. Jalaja has two children- Shruti and Rakhi. Aryanad police have registered a case against tipper lorry driver Murali.
