NEW DELHI: The number of Omicron victims in the country is increasing. So far, 23 people have been diagnosed with the disease. The test results of genome sequencing of the samples from states including Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi will be available today.

Kerala is awaiting the results of the genome sequencing testing of two Covid positives who came from abroad. The results of a health worker from the UK undergoing treatment in Kozhikode and a native of Tamil Nadu from Germany at Manjeri Medical College will be obtained today. Samples of the relative of the health worker and two from Russia have been sent for testing.

Meantime, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) demanded to begin the distribution of booster dose in the country immediately. The IMA recommended that health workers and those with low immunity be given priority and that children be vaccinated as early as possible.
