THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala police was heavily criticised during the CPM's Palayam Area Committee meeting and the Chalai Area Committee meeting on Tuesday. The party leaders criticised that the LDF government had no control over the police force and that the Home Department was not able to control those policemen inclined to RSS and UDF. They also said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should control the police. However, no personal criticism was levelled against the Chief Minister.

The delegates said that those police officers, who had initially claimed that local committee secretary Sandeep was murdered in Thiruvalla over a personal dispute, should not remain in that position. Many officials who were posted during the period of the UDF rule are still remaining in their respective posts. People were being denied justice even in reasonable matters. While several CPM activists were being denied justice, police were taking a soft stance towards SPI and RSS activists.

Delegates who attended the Palayam Area Committee meeting criticised that police were harassing the public. According to the CPM leaders, several police officers have embarrassed the government. The government should not hesitate to take action against such officials. The delegates also said that precautions should be taken not to repeat the controversies that have embarrassed the first Pinarayi government.

Responding to the discussion, the district leaders said it was not time to evaluate the government.
