THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5038 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Among these, 4724 persons developed the disease through contact, including 244 cases without an identified source of infection. 17 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 53 health workers contracted the disease on Wednesday.

4039 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 40,959 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 35 deaths due to the virus on Wednesday with the toll rising to 42,014.
