NEW DELHI: The bodies of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat were laid to rest at the Brar Square Crematorium in New Delhi. Rawat and his wife were cremated with full military honours.

A total of 800 service personnel were in attendance for the military funeral of the CDS. The Chief of Defence Staff was accorded a 17-gun salute as per laid down protocols.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stood in tribute to Gen Rawat as bugles sounded in the background. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was also present to pay respects, as were a long line of senior defence official. Gen Rawat and Madhulika Rawat's daughters, Kritika and Tarini, were present.


Decked with flowers and accompanied by dozens of civilians shouting 'Bharat Mata ki jai' and waving the national flag, the gun carriage carrying the bodies drove slowly through the city before reaching Delhi Cantonment.
