THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lashing out at the state government, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan said that the government was attempting to turn universities in the state into party cells. He also said that the LDF government was involved in the most humiliating political intervention in the history of the state.

"The government is appointing either close relatives of CPM leaders or party sympathisers to higher positions. An attempt is being made to fill the government offices with CPM members. All the appointments, including that of Vice-Chancellor, should be frozen," Satheesan said.

Congress leader K Muraleedharan MP said that universities in the state were being marxistised. " The universities in the state are being marxistised. Even the governor is fed up with this. If the governor wants to continue as Chancellor, he should take strong action against this," Muraleedharan said.
