NEW DELHI: The Union Ministry of Health has warned ten states, including Kerala, against lowering guard amid growing concern over Omicron. The Health Ministry has urged the states to tighten the restrictions in those districts with high Test Positivity Rate (TPR). It also asked the states to implement measures such as night curfew, restrictions on celebrations, including marriages, to tackle the spread of the virus. Nine districts in Kerala are among the 27 districts in the country with high TPR.

At present, there are a total of 33 Omicron cases in the country. Maharashtra has reported 17 Omicron Covid cases so far. Following this, the Maharashtra government has imposed fresh restrictions in the state.

Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba will chair a meeting today to assess the current situation in the country. The meeting will discuss whether to give booster dose in the wake of Omicron spread in the country.
