dangerous-hints-in-govern

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has once again locked horns with the state government over alleged irregularities. The war was sparked by an attempt by the government to weaken the search committee set up for the appointment of VC of Kalady Sanskrit University and appoint a person of their interest to the government. The appointment of VC of Kannur University had also violated government rules.
Some appointments made at Kannur University were also controversial. Special laws and regulations have been made with the broad objective of making the administration of universities and their appointments fair. But with everything immersed in politics, the law and order seems to be changing. The government had recently removed the power of the governor to appoint the University Appellate Tribunal through an amendment to the law. The governor's letter to the government strongly expresses his opposition to the measures being taken by the government for purely political purposes. He says the government can take back the chancellorship if it wants to do one thing at a time. He said that if an ordinance is to be issued for this, he is ready to sign it. When the governor said that he had to remain a mute spectator in many illegal activities in order to avoid clashes with the government, the government was cut off.

Since the governor is appointed by the central government, it is not uncommon for them to often clash with state governments. Here the battle between the governor and the government is based on fundamental legal issues. When the government itself violates the rules and regulations made by the government, the head of the administration who insists that everything should be done in accordance with the law cannot remain silent.

According to the rules, a person past the age of 60 should not be considered for the post of VC, but the person who was appointed as the VC of Kannur was much older.

He was re-appointed to the post of VC irrespective of his age. The government has inactivated the search committee to appoint a volunteer at the Sanskrit University. Although he had to turn a blind eye to the illegal appointment in Kannur, he rejected the recommendation of the Sanskrit VC. The governor, who is also the chancellor, has publicly questioned the government's blatant political interference in universities.

Such measures of political interest are not in the interest of the LDF government. The governor has written a letter criticizing the government's actions with good reason. This is a letter that can be described as very ordinary. No one would expect the government to have the wisdom to conduct introspection when he says that in the near future, the universities in the state are filled with news on the wrong things. Representation on university committees shows the prevalence of politics. When the governor says that the government is increasing pressure on him to do things that are against the law, the consequences are huge. Attempts to persuade the governor may succeed. That was the end of things before. But the issues raised by the governor have cast a shadow over the government's impartiality and sense of justice. Decisions need to be corrected if they are found to be wrong.
