THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan reiterated to step down from the chancellor post. The decision would be re-examined only if an assurance is obtained that there would be no political interference, the governor said while talking to the media in Delhi.

The governor said that he does not want to have a tiff with the government and the solution for this is to make Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan the chancellor. The chancellor post is not a constitutional position. The government can appoint anyone as vice chancellors in universities.

The Governor said that if the post is just for a namesake then he is not interested in wasting his time. Dialogues will do nothing. Political interference should be stopped. Kalamandalam VC appointed by the government has approached the court, he said.
