CHANDIGARH: It is a matter of concern that the number of people suffering from Omicron variants are on the rise in the country. One has been diagnosed with the disease in Chandigarh where the disease was not reported yet. The 20-year-old was diagnosed with the disease after travelling abroad. He was in Italy. He fell ill while visiting his relatives in Chandigarh. His study report came on Saturday night. Chandigarh Health Services Director Dr Suman Singh said the Omicron variant has been confirmed.

In addition, the Omicron variant was confirmed to one from Andhra Pradesh. This is the first time the Omicron variant has been confirmed in Andhra Pradesh. The third case was confirmed in Karnataka. The 34-year-old, who had returned from South Africa, was diagnosed with the disease. He was rushed to a government hospital. Karnataka Health Minister Dr Sudhakar K said the samples of five persons with primary contact and 15 persons with secondary contact have been collected and sent for testing. He has received two doses of the vaccine. With the confirmation of the disease in three more people, the number of confirmed Omicron cases in the country has risen to 36.
