NEW DELHI: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Sunday denied the allegations that there was outside interference behind his letter. The governor said that he was firm on his stand and that he would not clash with the government.

"Every person has the freedom to express his or her opinion. I am willing to give up my post as I don't want to work under pressure," the governor said. Meanwhile, the governor refused to respond to the CM's statements.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had summoned a press meet to respond to the criticism of the governor. During the press meet, he said that the governor's public statement regarding the appointment was unfortunate.

"The propaganda that the appointment of the vice-chancellor is decided by the chief minister and the ministers is false. There is a search committee for it. The governor's opinion can be recorded in the search committee. The government has not desired the chancellor’s post. Hope the governor to go back from his stand," the CM said. He also said that he had not asked the governor to do anything against his conscience.
