KANNUR: MV Jayarajan will continue as the CPM Kannur district secretary. Jayarajan, who was the private secretary to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, became the district secretary when P Jayarajan, who was the district secretary during the last Lok Sabha elections, contested in Vadakara. There are indications that the state leadership had taken a decision in this regard even before the Kannur district conference.

Jayarajan was part of the left through SFI and served as SFI State Joint Secretary and DYFI All India Joint Secretary. He is currently a member of the CITU State Committee and the Central Working Committee. He has twice represented the Edakkad constituency in the Assembly.
