AMBALAPPUZHA: In a horrific incident, a drunken man thrashed his wife to death with a chair. The deceased has been identified as Punnapra native Annamma (35). Police have arrested her husband Yesudas. The incident took place at around noon on Monday.

Yesudas, a fisherman, had not gone to work for the past few days. Sources said that he used to beat her regularly. On Monday morning, Yesudas got drunk and attacked Annamma with plastic chairs after locking her inside the house. Annamma was brutally beaten until three plastic chairs got completely damaged. He even trampled on her chest and abdomen. In the meantime, locals gathered around the house after Yesudas' mother cried for help. Upon breaking down the door, they found Annamma lying unconscious. Following this, they detained Yesudas and informed the police.

Although Annamma was rushed to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, she died at around 6.40 pm. Police have recorded the arrest of Yesudas. The couple has two children.
