THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The strike staged by PG doctors of medical colleges in the state has entered its fifth day. The government is likely to hold talks with the doctors striking. The government was against holding talks as their demands were met. However, as the house surgeons too have joined the strike, the government had to change their decision.
Meantime, the house surgeons strike will end today. The house surgeons were on a strike from yesterday 8 am to 8 am today to protest the increase in their workload due to the strike by PG doctors.
The house surgeons protested boycotting all duties except the emergency and Covid departments. The PG doctors are protesting demanding to speed up the NEET PG admissions and increase stipend by 4%.
All the services were badly hit due to the strike. The SFI unit of the College of Nursing has come out in protest against the appointment of nursing students to fill the shortage of doctors as the strike continues.
