NEW DELHI: A recent report has claimed that Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has refused to sign the petition prepared by the UDF MPs against K-Rail. The Congress MPs have filed a petition demanding that the proposed Silver Line project of K-Rail should not be implemented. The petition submitted to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was signed by 18 UDF MPs, including the Puducherry MP V Vaithilingam.

The UDF is alleging that the K-Rail project, which will do no good for Kerala, will have environmental repercussions and create financial liability for the state. The Union Railway Minister, who accepted the petition, has invited the MPs for a discussion tomorrow. It is learnt that Shashi Tharoor has demanded more study on the project.

Meanwhile, the opposition has intensified its protest against the K-Rail project. Opposition leader VD Satheesan, who accused the government of deceiving the people of Kerala with the SilverLine project, demanded that it should immediately withdraw from the project.
