THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K-Rail has stated that Alok Varma, a former employee of Systra India, was raising allegations against the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod semi-high speed rail project without knowing about the details of the project.

According to K-Rail, the project document and other documents were prepared through a detailed study over a period of 18 months. This was followed by a lidar survey, soil investigation, traffic study and environmental impact assessment using a small aircraft. The lidar survey was used for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail projects and the Outer Ring Road project in Thiruvananthapuram. It is the most modern and accurate survey.

The government had spent Rs 25 crore and prepared a study report on the high-speed rail project with the DMRC. The positive aspects of this report have been studied for the SilverLine. K-Rail also said that the DMRC's alignment or report has not been copied as such.
