THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The drone shield developed by the Kerala Police will be ready next month to counter the drone threat in strategic areas. The police are preparing the drone shield, worth Rs 8 crore, with the help of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and startup companies at a cost of Rs 20 lakh. TCS will provide the software. The drone shield will be deployed in the state capital on Republic Day. It will also be deployed in high-security areas including the airport, Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple and police headquarters. ADDGP Manoj Abraham is in charge of the drone shield.

Drones were spotted twice near the Thiruvananthapuram airport. It is dangerous for a plane to collide with a drone. Police are preparing the technology as it has been found that unmanned aerial vehicles can be used to perform terrorist attacks.
