KOZHIKODE: The youth, who attempted suicide after setting ablaze a woman in Thikodi, died on Saturday morning. Nandakumar, son of Thikodi native Mohanan, died while undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

Nandakumar had set ablaze Thikodi native Krishnapriya on Friday morning. The incident took place in front of the Thikodi panchayat office. Nandakumar attempted to commit suicide by setting himself on fire after setting Krishnapriya ablaze by pouring petrol on her. Krishnapriya was a temporary employee of Thikodi panchayat. Although Krishnapriya was rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to burn injuries by Friday evening.

Krishnapriya's body will be handed over to relatives today after postmortem. Police said the reason behind the crime is being investigated.
