KOZHIKODE: Police have taken an Andhra native into custody in connection with the fire that broke out in the Vadakara taluk office on Friday. Andhra native Sathish was taken into custody on Friday night.

Police had found writings in Telugu and English on the toilet walls of the Land Acquisition Tehsildar's office where a fire broke out two days ago. Later, they obtained a CCTV footage that showed Sathish entering a nearby building with a bottle in his hand. Following this, Sathish was taken into custody. The police are questioning him.

The police have not confirmed that Sathish was an accused in the case. They suspect that it was Sathish who set fire in the toilet of the adjacent building to the taluk office.

Vadakara MLA KK Rema had alleged that there was some mystery surrounding the incident. The fire broke out on Friday morning. Files, including land records of 28 villages, furniture and computers were destroyed by the blaze.
