KOZHIKODE: The accused who set fire in the Vadakara taluk office has said in his statement that he did so to warm himself. Satheesh Narayan, a native of Andhra Pradesh, had confessed to the crime, police said. Satheesh Narayan is a mentally challenged person. Earlier, he had set fire to two other government offices in Vadakara. Currently, Satheesh Narayan is accused in three arson cases.

He was arrested on the basis of CCTV footage. Earlier, the police had conducted a search at various places with Satheesh Narayan who was taken into custody yesterday. An inspection led by the Rural SP was carried out on nearby buildings where a small fire had broken out earlier.

After setting fire to papers, he fled the spot. The fire started at 6 am yesterday.
