ALAPPUZHA: The district collector on Sunday clamped prohibitory orders for two days under section 144 in Alappuzha in the wake of the unrest that broke out following the twin murders. Vehicle inspection in the area has been tightened.
Two murders were committed in the district in twelve hours. SDPI state secretary K S Shaan of Ponnad Alzha House and BJP OBC morcha state secretary Renjith Sreenivasan were the two murdered. Both were advocates.
Shaan was attacked at Mannancheri Kuppezham Junction at 7.30 pm last night. The SDPI leader was on his way home when a car rammed into his bike and as he fell down, the assailants assaulted him leading to his death. The investigation is focusing on the CCTV footages of the area.
Renjith was hacked to death Sunday early morning. An eight-member team attacked his house and then hacked him to death. The body of Renjith is kept at Alappuzha Medical College.
