ALAPPUZHA: More people have been taken into custody in connection with the murders of SDPI and BJP leaders. CCTV footages suspected to be the killers behind the murder of Renjith Sreenivasan, BJP leader in Alappuzha, are out. 11 SDPI activists are in custody presently. Out of the 11, four SDPI activists were nabbed from the ambulance. The ambulance was also taken into custody. Two BJP activists have been apprehended in the murder of Shaan. Prasad and Kochu Kuttan of Mannancheri are those apprehended.
The police concluded that there was a clear plan behind the murder. Nandu, a RSS activist was killed by SDPI activists at Aluva Vayalar in February last. The police said Shaan was killed in retaliation. More details have not been divulged.
IG Harshitha Attalloori also said there is no lapse from the side of the police intelligence in Alappuzha. Every house could not be guarded and unfortunately another murder happened. State police chief Anil Kant said an investigation will be conducted focusing on the leaders creating problems. ADGP Vijay Sakare and southern range IG Harshitha Attaloori are camping in the district. More police force has been deployed in the area. The situation is presently under control. Leaders and activists were warned that stern action will be taken if they try to disrupt law and order. The IG said about a thousand policemen had been deployed in the area.
