VIZHINJAM: A cleaner who got under a tourist bus for inspection due to damage had a miserable end as the vehicle moved forward.

Anil Kumar (Binu-44), son of Jayadevan and Chellamma, of Thazhava Kandassery in Thodiyoor in Kollam, died in the tragic incident. The accident took place near Azhimala temple at 10.30 pm on Saturday. The bus was carrying 45 passengers at the time. As the driver stopped the vehicle, a major accident was averted.

The bus reached Azhimala with the pilgrims from Thazhava in Kollam. After deboarding them, the bus was parked downhill near the temple. However, the bus did not start after the pilgrims started returning. On suspicion that the vehicle ran out of fuel, it was refueled. As soon as the bus started, the passengers got back on. But the vehicle soon turned off. Anil Kumar was lying on the ground in front of the bus to check for faults when it moved forward. Anil Kumar, died on the spot as the bus went over him. He was taken to the hospital by the locals who rushed to the spot after hearing the scream of the passengers. Anil Kumar is unmarried. Siblings: Beena, Biju, Benny and Anoop. The body was taken to the Medical College Hospital.
