THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The DGP directed all cops on leave to return immediately and asked all top officials to be in office. The new decision comes in the wake of the twin murders in Alappuzha.

The new instructions are contained in a circular sent to top officials. Steps have been taken to prevent violence from spreading to other districts and to prevent further incidents in Alappuzha. The state has imposed restrictions on mic announcements and rallies for three days.

The police has directed to be extra vigilant if consent is given. A maximum number of police force has been deployed in many parts of Alappuzha. Along with vehicle inspections, it has been directed to tighten checking on borders. The circular also mentioned that criminals should be closely monitored.
