ALAPPUZHA: Two RSS activists nabbed during interrogation told police that SDPI state secretary K S Shan was hacked to death in retaliation for the murder of RSS Gadanayak Nandu Krishna (22) of Vayalar in Cherthala. Rajendra Prasad of Mannanchery Ponnad who hatched the plot and K M Ratheesh alias Kuttan were the two arrested. The two were produced in the court and remanded.
Though the two were not directly involved in the murder, they have a role in hatching the conspiracy. It was Rajendra Prasad who arranged the killer gang and the vehicle for them. The car hired to knock Shan, who was going in a scooter, was found abandoned on the road side at Annapura near Kanichukulangara Temple in Cherthala. ADGP Vijay Sakhare said all the ten belonging to the group have been identified.
Rajendra Prasad and Ratheesh were present in the meet attended by RSS leader Valsan Thillenkeri at Alappuzha on Saturday. Shan was attacked after the meet. The accused were nabbed from RSS’ Alappuzha Karyalaya. Police said the RSS had targeted four SDPI leaders in the district in retaliation for Nandu Krishna's murder. It has been found that RSS workers from Kalavoor, Mannancherry and Omanapuzha are directly involved in the attack. The investigation by the local police in the murder case of Shan has been handed over to district crime branch DySP K V Benny.
