THIRUVALLA: A 13-year-old girl committed suicide by jumping into a river in Nedumbrath. She has been identified as Namitha of Kallungal. The incident happened Tuesday morning at 7 am.

Some of the local residents saw the girl jumping from the bridge across the Manimala River. A search was conducted and the girl was found but her life could not be saved. The girl died before brought to the shore. She was a student of Devaswom Board School.

Unofficial information of the police asserted that she took the drastic step after her parents scolded her for not studying.
