THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lashing out at the state police force, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan said that the district police chiefs are being controlled by the CPM district committees.

"The government and the Home Department are remaining mute spectators even as the state is witnessing an increase in political murders. The police are unable to prevent murders. The CPM is making unnecessary interventions. The state is in such a bad situation that the courts are constantly criticizing the police," Satheesan said.

"The K-Rail project is unnecessary. The government should immediately stop the process of taking over land for the project. The UDF will soon start the second phase of agitation against the project. Shashi Tharoor has not expressed support for the project. He only said that he would respond after studying about the project," Satheesan added.
