ALAPPUZHA: Police have recorded the arrest of five persons in connection with the murder of BJP leader Renjith Sreenivasan. All five were taken into custody on Monday. The arrested have been identified as Nishad, Sudheer, Arshad, Asif and Ali. All of them are SDPI activists.

OBC Morcha state secretary Renjith Sreenivasan was hacked to death on Sunday morning. The assailants attacked Renjith while he was about to leave his house for a morning walk. The murder took place in the presence of his wife and mother.

Renjith was killed hours after the murder of SDPI state secretary KS Shan. According to the police, about 12 people were directly involved in the murder.
