KOZHIKODE: The parents of a girl were arrested for giving a quotation to attack a man who supported their daughter's love marriage. Police have also arrested the 5-member gang that attacked Vellimadukunnu native Rineesh, the brother-in-law of the girl's husband.

The arrested are Thalakkulathoor native Anirudhan, his wife Ajitha, quotation gang members Subhash, Arun, Ashwanth, Avinash and Balu.

The incident took place on December 11. Rineesh, who suffered a head injury, needed 21 stitches. He is still in the hospital.

Janet, the couple's daughter, had secretly got married to Rineesh's brother-in-law Swaroop three years ago. Both Swaroop and Janet left for Singapore one and a half months ago. Following this, Anirudhan and Ajitha decided to give a quotation to attack Rineesh for supporting the marriage.

The gang attacked Rineesh at around 8.45 pm when he was returning home. They hacked him using a knife attached to a metal rod. Police nabbed the gang members when they returned from the hideout.
