THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George said that one more case of Omicron has been confirmed in the state. The Covid-19 variant was detected in a 51-year-old Kannur native. Omicron was confirmed in a genetic sequencing test performed as part of sentinel surveillance. The person was under quarantine as he was in the contact list of a neighbouring student who tested positive for Covid.

He tested positive for Covid on October 9th. Omicron was confirmed by genetic testing. Only his father is on the primary contact list. With this, Omicron has been confirmed for a total of 38 people in the state.

A man undergoing treatment for Omicron in Malappuram was discharged on the twelfth day after he tested negative in the RT-PCR test.
