KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sharply criticized the Muslim League over the Waqf issue. "The Muslim League is trying to create communalism in the society. We have seen this, including in the Waqf issue," he said.

"The League is trying to portray that Muslims have no protection under the LDF government in Kerala. The government is not adamant on the Waqf issue. That is why it was decided that things should go ahead after a detailed discussion. It was approved by two factions of the Samastha and one faction of the Mujahid. But the league cannot accept it", the CM said.

He also referred to the slogans chanted by those who came to the League meeting to express their sentiments.
