KOCHI: KITEX MD Sabu M Jacob responded on the incident where migrant workers attacked the police. He said the violence was unexpected and would not protect the perpetrators.

‘It was a very unexpected incident. Some workers went to partake in a carol team last night. Other workers objected saying they could not sleep. A dispute broke out over it,’ Sabu Jacob told a private channel.

The workers attacked the security personnel when they tried to stop them. That's how the police were called. They attacked the police also. Our enquiry revealed that they had used some drugs. This is the first time such an incident has happened here, he said.

All taken into custody are not involved in the incident and only less than 30 people are involved in the attack. He added that KITEX is not a movement protecting any criminals.
