THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kitex MD Sabu Jacob said that not all the workers arrested in the Kizhakkambalam incident are guilty. "Only less than 40 workers are guilty. But 155 people had been taken away by the police", Sabu Jacob said in a press release.

"Fewer than 40 workers are behind the violence. But 155 people were taken away by police. Every one of them are not offenders. The man who set the police vehicle on fire was handed over to the police by the Kitex company. We will fully cooperate with the investigation", Kitex MD said in the press release.

The press release also said that no guilty worker would be allowed to escape and that demanded an investigation on how the workers got drugs.

The clashes erupted at around 12pm on Saturday night in Kizhakkambalam. The incident took place at a camp where the workers of the Kitex company were staying. Clashes broke out between workers during a Christmas-related celebration. According to information received at the police control room, the workers also unleashed an attack on the police officers who came to investigate the incident. The policemen were brutally beaten. Workers also set fire to a police jeep. The policemen got out of the jeep and fled. The vehicle was completely burnt out. Four policemen, including Kunnathunadu CI and ASI, were injured.
