THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The auto-taxi workers union has informed that all auto and taxi workers in the state will go on strike on December 30. The workers are planning for the strike demanding that auto-taxi fares be revised in line with rising fuel and other expenses.
The auto workers are in a crisis in the wake of the soaring prices of fuel and essential items. Therefore, the workers are demanding that the minimum charge be hiked by at least Rs 5. The last hike in auto-taxi fares was in December 2018. Since then petrol and diesel prices have gone up several times but prices have not changed.
The bus owners had also approached the government with the demand to increase fares. Despite announcing the strike, the strike was postponed following discussions with the transport minister.
