THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has announced a night curfew in the state to contain the spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus. The night curfew will be effective from December 30 to January 2. Restrictions will be in force from 10 pm to 5 am. Crowding and unnecessary journeys will not be allowed. The restrictions were imposed in the context of New Year celebrations. The decision was taken at the Covid review meeting held today.

At present, several states have imposed night curfews per the central directive. While Uttar Pradesh has imposed a night curfew from December 25, Gujarat and Karnataka have also imposed night curfews to contain the spread of the Omicron variant.
