THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The remand report stated that the murder of Aneesh George in Pettah was deliberately committed by the accused Simon Lalan. He confessed that Aneesh’s love towards his daughter forced him to commit the murder. He said that he stabbed Aneesh on his chest and back. The knife pierced through the other side. Hid the knife in the water meter box after the murder. The police have recovered the knife. The report said a beer bottle was found from the room where the murder took place.

Aneesh's family had earlier alleged that he was called to Simon Lalan's house. Aneesh mother had stated earlier that Lalan's wife had called her and asked her to go to the police station urgently. She first called at 3.20 am. Simon Lalan stabbed him to death at around 3.30 am. Only when Aneesh’s mother called the girl’s mother at around 4.30 am, she knew that Aneesh was not at home. She was later informed about her son’s death.

Simon Lalan first told police that he stabbed him mistaking him as a thief. However, a police investigation proved it wrong. Aneesh and the girl, who are neigbours at Chayakudy Lane in Pettah, have been close for years. Simon did not like his wife and children being friendly with Aneesh. Even after his wife and children told him not to attack Aneesh, he murdered him. It was only after their statements were recorded, police found that Lalan had committed the murder knowingly.
