THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With 44 more people testing positive for Omicron in Kerala, the total number of infections by the new variant of COVID-19 in the state has reached 107, the Health Department said on Friday. Health Minister Veena George said extreme caution was needed.

District wise breakup of positive cases:

Ernakulam- 12, Kollam- 10, Thiruvananthapuram- 8, Thrissur- 4, Kottayam- 2, Palakkad- 2, Malappuram- 2, Kannur- 2, Alappuzha- 1 Idukki- 1.

Among the newly infected people, 10 people returned from high-risk countries and 27 returned from low-risk countries. Seven people got infected with Omicron through contact.

Kerala has recorded 107 Omicron cases so far. 41 people returned from high-risk countries, while 52 returned from low-risk countries. 14 persons contracted the disease through contact.
