THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police said that the murder of 19-year-old Aneesh George, who was stabbed to death by his girlfriend's father, was a preplanned one. As per the remand report, Aneesh was in love with the accused Simon Lalan's daughter and that Lalan committed the murder due to this animosity.
Lalan had initially told the police that he stabbed Aneesh mistaking him as a thief. However, a police investigation proved it wrong. The accused then admitted that he had animosity and hatred towards Aneesh. Lalan burst into tears, saying that the knife that was used to stab Aneesh was hidden in a water tank in front of the house and that he was ready to show it to the police. Police found the blood-stained knife in a search conducted on the basis of Lalan's statement.
Lalan already knew that Aneesh would come to his house after midnight. According to police, Lalan stayed awake in the night to capture Aneesh. Aneesh had talked to Lalan's daughter over the phone till 1.37 am. He might have reached Lalan's house after that. Aneesh was not able to defend himself as it was an unexpected attack.
Despite collecting statements of both families in connection with the incident, police have decided to question them once again in detail in the coming days. Meanwhile, the Pettah police have filed an application in the court seeking custody of the accused for two days.
