PALA: An Uttar Pradesh native has been arrested at the Delhi airport for allegedly trying to extort Rs 4 lakh from a housewife by threatening to spread nude pictures on social media. A team led by Pala CI KP Thomson arrested Monukumar Rawat, 25, hailing from Rapthinagar in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur.

In July 2020, this man and a housewife from Pala became friends through Facebook. He then chatted constantly through Messenger and WhatsApp. Meanwhile, he managed to get some nude pictures and video from the women. He demanded money to not release the pictures on the internet. He said the money was for his sister's wedding.

Pictures leaked as money wasn't paid

Monukumar sent pictures and videos to many people through messenger since April 2021 as the woman didn't give money. Following this, the housewife lodged a complaint with the Pala police. The police had issued a look-out notice for the accused who was abroad. Meanwhile, he arrived in Delhi the previous day and was detained by airport officials and security forces. The accused, who was later taken into police custody, was brought to Pala yesterday.
